2019 is on its way to being wrapped up! As a new year (and decade!) approaches, fragrance lovers are making room for new resolutions, new looks, and of course – new fragrance! Before looking forward, take a look at some of the top fragrances that were just released this Fall season.
Fragrances For Him
Bottega Veneta Illusione for Him, $118, Macys.com
Launched in Summer’s closing months of 2019, Illusione blurs the lines between reality and dream, as well as, wellness and luxury. Available in his and hers, the Bottega Veneta fragrance duo capture “sensual Italian allure from two perspectives.” The men’s fragrance offers a “resinous masculinity” that plays with aromatic notes of woody– and citrus-ness. Every note listed is promised in its scent: from Italian lemons and bitter orange to fir resin and white cedar.
K by DOLCE & GABBANA, $94, sephora.com.
An abbreviation for ‘king,’ this new release (September 2019) from Dolce and Gabbana is step away from the brand’s typical grandiose scents. Instead, the fragrance inspires men to be everyday “kings” of their own domain – and what better way than with a signature scent?
Though the bottle resembles that of The One by Dolce & Gabbana, ‘K’ is a very contrasting fragrance. The top has citrus freshness to create a light aroma, then goes deeper with combinations of very specific varieties of patchouli and spice, which makes it hot and sexy (versus leathery and oriental like other D&G fragrances)!
Molton Brown Flora Luminare, $160, moltonbrown.com.
At a glance, this fragrance is one the softer side of fragrance – making it most provocative! Filled with notes such as orange blossom, mandarin, jasmine absolute, vanilla and musk, Flora Luminare can go either way on the for him or for her spectrum. Sensuous and intoxicating, Flora Luminare is the latest of over 20 collections from the London luxury fragrance.
Acqua di Parma Signatures of the Sun, $270 each, saksfifthavenue.com.
These signature releases, bring together ingredients from all over the world. The 10-fragrance collection is curated and distilled by exclusive fragrance houses. Of the 10, five are all for the new release and include: Camelia, Osmanthus, Sakura, Vaniglia and Yuzu.
If you’re a collector, then you’ll have earned your badge of honor once you have these bottles in your fragrance wardrobe.
Perry Ellis AMERICA,$75, perryellis.com.
Our current culture craves nostalgia – from Throwback Thursdays to Flashback Fridays. These blasts from the past aren’t just for post on the ‘gram – or cool themed parties! Don’t be surprised when you see legendary brands join in on the moment and bring us back the scents that created old memories. America by Perry Ellis is a staple fragrance in the 90s capsule collection that has been launched by the brand. Aside from minor optimization, nothing about the fragrance has changed much. The unisex scent blends modern notes with 90s vibes, with bergamot, pineapple, white pepper, lavender, rose, myrrh, patchouli, birch and amber.
Fragrances For Her
Twilly d’Hermes Eau Poivree, $133, hermes.com
“Hermes girls swim against the tide… and set their own tempo…” The release of Twilly d’Hermes perfume unleashes the spirit of this girl that’s drummed up by the major brand house – and provides the backdrop for this preppy and youthful fragrance. The smells and packaging offer vibrance that garners the attention of others, while enchanting them to stay. Ingredients include pink peppercorn, rose, and patchouli.
Chloe L’Eau, $119, sephora.com
A rose perfume you’ll actually want to wear this Fall…
Paired with a multi-faceted magnolia this new Chloe perfume is long-lasting and adds a new variety to the icon fragrance line. If you’re not familiar with Chloe’s other scents, not to fret, this scent is good for introduction. Though it’s billed as a “floral” – the lasting notes offer up a fresh note throughout.
KILLIAN Rolling in Love Eau de Parfum, $240, bykilian.com
Have you ever been so high on love that it got under your skin? If not, prepare for the multi-dimensional emotional journey – that is Killian’s Rolling in Love! No one feeling should be evoked in the representation of love. The same holds true for the notes and aromas that envelop you with Killian’s new fragrance. Rolling in Love is a “white” scent, layering different textures along the scent’s trail with notes of ambrette seeds, almond milk, iris, and musk.
NARS Audacious, $180, nars.com
The beauty brand has created and sold almost every beauty product known to (wo)man – except one thing: fragrance! After 25 years, with the help of French perfumer, Olivia Giacobetti, the NARS elite have a signature scent to accompany their cult line of products. NARS Audacious plays on the term “audacity”: which boldly places contrasts in your face. The fragrance embodies sensuality, while creating individuality from your typical femme fragrance.
Its top notes are white frangipani and incense smoke; the middle notes bring together tiare flower, ylang ylang essential oil, and sandalwood; and the base notes combine white cedar essential oil and white musk.
Tory Burch Knock On Wood, $138, bloomingdales.com.
Another fragrance brand that uses nostalgia as a key component to its success. If you’re fairly familiar with superstition, then you’re aware that “knocking on wood” dispels bad luck for good fortune. Similarly, Tory Burch’s newest perfume (launched in September 2019) is a woody floral that evokes strength, confidence, and of course, a little luck.
Knock on Wood is an unexpected mix of note contrasts, with Turkish rose and sandalwood, cardamom and vetiver.
